Create a friendly, healthy and safe environment that will encourage people at all ages, sizes, sexes and fitness levels to benefit from a regular yoga practice in a state of the art facility.

At the age of 49, Bob Floyd mentioned to a friend that an inner voice had been telling him to "do yoga". The friend happened to have Bikram's Beginning Yoga book and they began practicing together. After his friend moved away Bob continued to practice every day but Sunday for 1 ˝ years. He had no knowledge of yoga before he began his practice and therefore no expectations, but he quickly discovered that his lower back stopped "going out", a lifelong problem. He noticed other physical benefits, but mostly he was just happier! With a background in the helping professions, Rehab Counseling, Bob could think of no better way to be of help to others than to teach Bikram Yoga. He received his Bikram Instructor Certification in 1998 and has been teaching ever since.
Diane Faircloth discovered Bikram Yoga in 2001 and quickly became addicted. Diagnosed with mild scoliosis several years before, Bikram Yoga was the first physical discipline she found that allowed her to strengthen and support her structural imbalance while providing the cardio workout her body craved. Having a background in Anatomy, Physiology and Eastern medicine, she could understand how Bikram yoga benefits the body from a western medical perspective as well as the energetic and spiritual benefits. She became committed to helping others experience the healing benefits of this yoga and received her Bikram Instructor Certification in 2003.

Meryl Biksacky found herself at the Bikram Yoga SLC studio shortly after making a life changing decision to move back to Salt Lake after attending college and living in Chicago, her hometown, for nearly 5 years.
In the first few minutes before class on that fateful April day in 2005, she wondered how people could possibly tolerate this heat…..and then class began and she realized that you were expected to move in it! As one hour came and went, she looked up in desperation at the clock, not realizing that the class was actually 90 minutes long—she had come ill-prepared mentally. She did not manage to stay in the room the entire time for her first class and afterwards wondered if she would ever step foot in Bikram’s torture chamber again. After some positive encouragement from the teacher that night, Meryl would come again and has continued to maintain a steady practice of at least 5 classes per week over the last several years. She knew after those first few months that one day she would teach this yoga.
In the fall of 2008, after saving her pennies for a few years while working in the biotech industry, she bid adieu to her lab position and immersed herself completely in the intense and invaluable experience that is Bikram Yoga Teacher Training. Words cannot describe what this yoga has taught and continues to teach her about her Self, her fellow humans, and the relationships that bind us together. The least she can do is attempt to offer this awakening of consciousness to her students by leading them through their own 90 minute moving meditation. Catch a class with her and soak up all the accompanying dizziness, nausea, and pure, utter bliss!

Nicholle Johnson began practicing Bikram yoga consistently two years ago. She found that in this busy and stressful age that it was the only thing that quieted her mind, for 90 minutes a day she was truly at peace. It was the only practice that she had found thus far that balanced everything out; mental, spiritual, and physical well being. A year and a half into her practice it was suggested to her by her mentor and friend Diane Faircloth to go to teacher training. Her first response was, "But I am not a size two, how could I become a teacher?" With the encouragement of her family and studio she became a teacher in spring of 2008 and finally understands that that was the point: with determination, courage, and willingness anyone can do Bikram Yoga. The only limiting factor that anyone has is determination. She hopes that in teaching and practicing she can help show that yogis come in all shapes and sizes.

Nicholas Jones was introduced to Bikram Yoga in 2006 by his older brother, now also a Bikram Yoga Instructor. Throughout the first year he practiced a couple times a week to supplement his other physical activities, including weight lifting, soccer, and triathlons. It became apparent quickly that there was something unique and powerful about the Bikram Yoga series. Not only did the yoga help him to overcome several injuries caused by the other activities, but Nicholas soon realized the benefits span far greater than the physical body. Nicholas increased the frequency of his practice, eventually to 7 classes a week. He graduated from the Spring 2008 Bikram Yoga Teacher Training. He hopes to serve all that are dedicated to this life changing practice, and remains enthusiastic to further unlock the unlimited potential through Bikram Yoga.
Tamara Cook began practicing Bikram Yoga in 2007, and immediately couldn’t get enough of it. From the very beginning, she felt stronger, had more endurance, and most importantly, felt more calm and peaceful every day. Tamara quickly realized that she could not live without this yoga; it brought her life the balance she had been looking for. Tamara decided to dedicate her life to practicing and teaching Bikram Yoga, and attended Teacher Training in the fall of 2008.
As she grows in her practice and her teaching, Tamara is continuously amazed by the challenges and rewards the yoga brings. She believes that there is nothing more fulfilling than teaching Bikram Yoga, being able to witness lives transformed by this practice. Tamara is committed to helping Bikram in his goal of spreading Bikram Yoga around the world. She hopes that, along the way, she can help more and more people discover and realize the amazing healing potential of Bikram Yoga. She truly believes that with the help of this yoga, we can, one by one, help to make this world a better place.
Ashley Stevenson came to Tucson in 2001. She studied at the University of Arizona and graduated with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics. Upon completion of her degrees in December 2008, she immediately enrolled in Bikram’s Yoga Teacher Training in Spring 2009. Ashley began teaching Bikram Yoga July 1, 2009.
Ashley started the yoga in February 2007 when her mom started telling her of this hot new thing she was doing. Being adventurous and having a background in softball, dance, gymnastics, Brazilian Jujitsu, and Krav Maga, she thought “Hey, no sweat.” This began a full-bodied journey into health, happiness, and consciousness.
In October 2008, Ashley was in a car accident that left her with permanent nerve damage in her left shoulder. The car was totaled and the doctors said she shoudn’t be walking. After the go-ahead from the doctor to resume physical activity, her doctor implored her to get back to yoga. Yoga has become the way to rehab and stabilize her shoulder. The results were so great that her primary care physician sent his wife to start practicing and refers other patients suffering from chronic pain.
In July 2010 Ashley got her 70 year old grandmother to try Bikram Yoga, and she is flourishing with new found movement thought to be lost after a triple hip replacement!
Julia Michaels first discovered Bikram Yoga in 2008 and immediately knew she had come across something extraordinary. Unlike the dance studios or gym classes she had spent so much time in before, the studio was filled with people of all different ages, body types and sizes! Having suffered from an eating disorder in the past, Julia relished the inclusive nature of the studio and the mind-body connection she experienced in the hot room. Bikram Yoga forced her to be mindful and present, consequently allowing her to feel alive in her own skin. After years of looking in the mirror and hating what she saw, with time Julia found herself falling in love with the strength and capacity of her own body. Having personally witnessed the transformative power of Bikram Yoga, Julia felt compelled to share it through teaching. She graduated from Teacher Training in Spring 2011 and she is excited to play witness to the physical, mental, and emotional transformations that Bikram Yoga can provide its students, staring by “locking the knee”! She will teach while continuing as a graduate student at the University of Arizona, studying School Psychology.
